SOME OF MY FAVOURITE MURAL PROJECTS

Hand painted murals can be extremely versatile and with right skills, they can be applied to almost any space that needs some personality. Here is a showcase of some my key commercial and residential projects over the years:

Children Mural by Alessandra Tortone, London

Sleeping Room at Queensburry Nursery

QUEENSBERRY NURSERY, SOUTH KENSINGTON

2007-2016

It all started with one mural that lead me to come back year after year to transform all the spaces in the nursery.

There are more than 20 hand painted murals in the nursery covering sleeping rooms, library, kitchen, garden area as well as the main entrance and a number of corridors.

Mural at Italian Connections Restaurant, London by Alessandra Tortone

Italian Pizza Connections, Notting Hill

ITALIAN PIZZA CONNECTIONS RESTAURANT,

Notting Hill, London, 2010

This was definitely one of the most funny and original work I have done. The owner was not afraid of breaking the stereotype of classic art symbols; Mona Lisa and Venus eating pizza have been photographed by many customers!

To add even more character to the place, I also created a twist on ‘The Last Supper’ by Leonardo Da Vinci. Yes, you guessed it.. they are all eating pizza too!

Starbucks Mural by Alessandra Tortone

Starbucks, Hemel Hempstead

STARBUCKS, SOUTH ENGLAND AND LONDON AREA,

2015 till present

Now you can look twice at your local Starbucks’ walls…

In a collaboration with Paul Sweeney, I have created murals and black boards for over 50 Starbucks coffee shops in England. Great project with strict corporate brief and deadlines but definitely worth the effort. We are transforming more outlets every month so keep your eyes open!

Esthederm Window Art by Alessandra Tortone

Esthederm Summer Campaign

INSTITUTE ESTHEDERM, PORTMAN PHARMACY,

London, Summer 2016

Hand painted murals can be also applied to glass, although at that stage they become a window art.

I was approached by the famous French cosmetic brand to help them launch their summer products. Based on their creative brief, I created large scale window art showing new products and signature brand messages. It turned so many heads on the street, that they asked me to do a second shop straight away.

Winnie the Poo Mural, London Art by Alessandra Tortone

Winnie the Poo Mural in private home, Kensington

CHILDREN MURALS IN PRIVATE HOMES, LONDON

From 2010 till present

Fairy tales, favourite movie characters, cosmos, Greek or Roman Gods, caricatures of children and the family or even the entire ocean; the opportunity are endless!

I have done both fun as well as classical hand painted murals. Even the furniture can be painted over!

Children Mural, WHITTINGTON HOSPITAL, Archway, 2013

‘Under World’, Waiting Room, Whittington Hospital

WHITTINGTON HOSPITAL, Archway, 2013

I was asked to brighten up the Paediatric department in order to make the space more fun and colourful for children and parents alike.

I created 5 different murals including ‘Underwater World’ in the waiting room as well as ‘magical lands’ and ‘London landscape’ in various patients rooms and corridors.

The art works made such a difference that the project was mentioned in the local press!

BLUE ALMONDS SHOP, SOUTH KENSINGTON
2013 till present

This luxury children shop has been my client for many years. It started with a window painting announcing new shop launch along with children face painting that I provided. It got all community talking and was a great way to establish a shop in a new area. Since then, we have done window art announcing new collections as well as seasonal greetings for Christmas and other special occasions.

People regularly pass by to check for new art, so please have a look at the shop if you are ever in the area!

Outdoor Mural at Eden Village, Luxury Beach Resort

Outdoor Mural at Eden Village, Luxury Beach Resort

EDEN VILLAGE, LUXURY BEACH RESORT

Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt, 2005

This was a wonderful opportunity to use both indoor as well as outdoor walls for hand-painted children murals.

I came up with a theme around Aladdin and Middle East fairy tales in order to show local heritage. The work was so well received that I secured commissions from a wide number of hotels and resorts in Sharm El Sheik. This has gave me a fantastic opportunity to practice unique large scale art works.

The above projects represent only a fraction of my art works over the last 15 years, however they were the key projects I am the most proud of.
