1st Place - The Hemmingways - 2025

Client: The Hemingways
Location: Wimbledon Village, London, SW19
Awards: Winner – Local Window Art Competition (2024 & 2025)

For the second year in a row, Hemingways takes the crown! Judges were blown away by the intricate work covering every inch of their windows, with hidden objects inviting passersby to engage and tag them on social media for a chance to win a Pimms.

 1. The Brief

The Hemingways commissioned Alessandra on two separate occasions, each with a clear and thoughtful brief:

  • Celebrate Wimbledon’s tennis heritage
  • Reflect the character of Wimbledon Village
  • Create artwork that connected meaningfully with the local community

Each design needed to feel authentic to the area while remaining visually striking and aligned with the restaurant’s brand.

2. The Creative Approach

Both projects began with collaborative discussions and idea-sharing with the owner, followed by a bespoke sketch tailored to the brief.

The final designs blended:

  • The history of the competition
  • Celebrated previous winners
  • References to tennis history
  • The atmosphere of Wimbledon Village
  • Hand-painted illustration with a timeless, celebratory feel

Once approved, the artwork was painted directly onto the windows, bringing the concepts to life on the high street.

3. Why It Stood Out

  • Strong cultural and historical relevance
  • Clear storytelling rather than purely decorative visuals
  • Seamless alignment with the client’s identity
  • High engagement and support from the local community

Both murals received the highest number of public votes.

4. Result

🏆 Winner of the local window art competition — twice in two tears for the same venue, a rare achievement that highlights both consistency and creative impact.

🥇 High Barnet – Award-Winning Christmas Window Mural (1st Place)

Client: Mamafifi – Mediterranean-Italian Restaurant
Location: High Barnet, London, EN5
Award: Winner – Local Christmas Window Competition (jury-voted)

1. The Brief

The brief was to create a festive Christmas window mural that would:

  • Capture a festive atmosphere for our guests and the people of Barnet
  • Engage the local community
  • Stand out visually among neighbouring shop windows

The client wanted something hand-painted, warm and distinctive, rather than a generic festive display. The size of the window was substantial with a total of 14 separate windowpanes available to paint.

2. The Creative Approach

Alessandra worked closely with the business owner to develop a concept that felt personal and community-focused.
Through collaborative brainstorming, a sketch was created that balanced:

  • Seasonal charm
  • Handcrafted illustration
  • Clear visual storytelling that worked both up close and from the street

The final artwork was painted directly onto the window, transforming the restaurant front into a festive focal point within High Barnet.

3. Why It Stood Out

Large scale, authentic hand-painted artwork rather than printed graphics or alternative.

  • A design rooted in the local community
  • Strong composition that worked in both daylight and evening settings
  • Emotional appeal that resonated with passers-by

The mural connected with the public and impressed the competition judges alike.

4. Result

🏆 Winner of the High Barnet Christmas Window Competition, selected by a jury.
