Mural Design Process

Our mural design process exists to make sure both ourselves and our clients are clear on the mural design and what will be delivered.

Step 1 – Discovery

It’s important for us to understand your project from the beginning, so when you get in contact (via, email, phone or our contact form) we will need the following information to be able to proceed:

1. The Location of the artwork is important so we can consider any travel time and logistics involved.
2. The Size of the artwork is very important to be able to estimate the number of hours or days the job will take to complete. Size can be communicated as the dimension of the wall or window by measuring its width and height. Measurements can be in feet and inches or meters and centimetres. Alternatively, square feet or square meters are equally as good.
3. Design brief, so we understand where you are with your design idea, if you have one mind or maybe just inspiration at this point. Whatever you have, please share your ideas and vision with us so we can identify the creative direction.

If you’re not sure about a design, or you are undecided between a few options, we will book a phone call to help you decide on a direction. The initial calls while we understand your project are FREE of charge.

Step 2 – Identify & quotation

Once we have all the initial information, we will sketch our thoughts and also communicate complementary ideas. At this stage, we can give you a rough estimate of the cost, typically a minimum and maximum cost based on a simple option to a more detailed design. It is also possible to customise the design to your ideal budget.

Step 3 – Prototype

It is time to choose a design and we will create a prototype on paper so you can see the design. The prototype phase will require a 20% deposit (not refundable) based on the estimated final cost of the project. After we receive your deposit we will create your custom design and send it over to you for your feedback. We appreciate one or two revisions may be required.

Step 4 – Implement

Once you have signed off on the prototype design we will book a date that suits for us to create your one-of-a-kind, fully bespoke design, hand-painted on your wall or window. The amount of time implementation will take depends on the size and complexity of the design but typically will take between one to four days. The implement stage completes the mural design process.
